what we do

Geelong Termite Control & Inspections

First of all, itโ€™s important to note that termites are subterranean. This means that they travel underground undetected. They are particularly dangerous because in most cases, once you have noticed the damage, it is highly likely they have been there for some time causing some form of structural damage. We at Geelong Pest Control pride ourselves on our ability to adapt and overcome to any termite problems that may be present at your home, and not only eradicate your existing problem, but prevent any further future termite activity or damage.

What puts your home at risk?

Moisture! Moisture! Moisture!
Termites predominantly look for areas that have high moisture content in the soil and therefore have a high probability of finding moist timber, which is ideal as a food source for termites.

What should I do if I find termites?

Stop work immediately! Termites when exposed to excessive amounts of ultraviolet light and general disturbance, will change direction, move to other areas of the home, and continue feeding on timber and creating โ€œmud leadsโ€. Thus making it more difficult for pest control technicians to detect their next movements. It is also common for people to spray termites with household pesticides, this is also a bad idea, as those products are typically ย repellant based and limit the effectiveness of the high quality products Geelong Pest Control would use.

Here are some high-risk areas to be aware of-

  • Timber stumps
  • Poorly ventilated sub floors
  • Pipe leaks in subfloors and wall cavities
  • Timber resting in soil such as base boards
  • Fire wood stacked near home
  • Garden beds against home

These points are just a few of the common paths termites take to gain entry to your home.

Inspection/Detection

Geelong Pest Control utilises tried and tested techniques as well as the latest technology in termite detection.
Termatrac T3i is the most advanced device in the world developed purely to detect, confirm and track the presence of termites. It allows termite inspections and treatments to be completed more accurately and without disturbance, saving time and products.

Treatment options

Non repellent

We prefer to use Termidor SC or Termidor HEย for termite control. It is a reliable chemical barrier that we apply to the soil surrounding your home or structure. Termidor has a pass on effect that uses the typical characteristics of termites communicating by touch to transfer the active molecule back to the colony, hence eliminating all current termite activity and future reinfestation. Geelong Pest Control is one of the only local pest control companies, which is accredited to apply to apply these products.

Repellent

We use Bifenthrin as part of our termite control services. It is a kill on contact chemical that also repels any future termite activity away from your home. This product is only suitable when there is no current termite activity in your home, or you are not located in a โ€˜high threatโ€™ area making it ideal when performing termite inspections.

Pre-Construction Termite Prevention

A pre-construction barrier is one of the most cost effective and best methods of preventing Termite infestation. Home Guard Blue PB is a robust chemical membrane that we install directly to your concrete slab and services, before the timber framing stage has begun. Read more on our pre-construction page.

โ€œPrevention is always better than the cureโ€
